Support4Recovery, Inc. is a grass roots non-profit organization made up of individuals and families in recovery.

Our Mission is to assess the needs of the recovering community, develop action plans to support, educate and empower our community and thus promote successful long-term recovery.

Our focus is on celebrating the recovery movement and breaking down the stigma and discrimination by creating a unified voice for positive change.

Since its beginning in 2005, every September, Contra Costa County has its Annual Recovery Walk Celebration in Martinez. In 2007, Support4Recovery began sponsoring and organizing this highly anticipated celebration. It has become the flagship event for members of the recovery community during National Recovery Happens Month.

This event attracts community-based organizations and several local businesses along with up to 600 individuals and their families in recovery who participate and make this event the huge success that it has become! The annual Recovery Walk has focused on honoring those who have overcome their addictions. This event focuses on celebrating people in recovery and showcases how it empowers, motivates, and gives everyone a renewed outlook on life; along with educating community members about alcohol & other drug disorders, the effectiveness of various programs, and the realistic possibility of recovery.

On September 11th the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors will proclaim September National Recovery Month in Contra Costa County.  Part of our mission statement  says that we will break down the stigma and discrimination by creating a unified voice for positive change.  This event is one of the most important ways to do so.  We invite everyone in recovery including family members to attend this event.

This years celebration and walk will be in honor of Guy Odle

Keep an eye on our website for the announcement of the 2012 Dental Grant that we will start around June.  Since our Recovery Walk in 2009, we have had the County Dental Program give free assessments of our participants. What we found out was that most of the people who received assessments had not addressed their dental issues at all or would remove the teeth because this was the most affordable way.  S4R is proud to announce that  2011 was the first Healthy Smiles Healthy Body Dental Grant.
