Andrew McAllister

With coming up on seven years clean after a grueling 21 years of active addiction Andrew McAllister has a heart for those still stuck in the grips of substance abuse. Now serving on the activities committee and current chair of the Advisory Council for S4R.  Andrew McAllister looks forward to giving back to the community from which he once came from. 

Susan Martin

Susan Martin is a remarkable individual who has overcome a challenging journey of substance addiction, incarceration, and treatment programs. After battling addiction for 12 years, she has now been clean for over 2 1/2 years, a testament to her resilience and determination to turn her life around. Susan's personal experiences have shaped her into a beacon of hope and inspiration for others in similar situations. She currently works for the company that operates the women's program, using her own story to support and guide women on their path to recovery. Recently, she was granted an opportunity by the public defender's office to expunge her record, reflecting her commitment to personal growth and transformation. Susan has learned valuable lessons on maintaining resilience in the face of life's challenges, staying actively engaged in the recovering community, and extending a helping hand to fellow addicts seeking support and guidance. Support4Recovery played a pivotal role in Susan's journey by providing her with a safe and supportive environment by helping her with  Sober Living Environment (SLE) in both 2013 and 2021. Susan's unwavering dedication to her own recovery and her commitment to staying connected to Support4Recovery exemplify her passion for helping others and making a positive impact in the recovery community.

Sue Martinez

I have devoted many years in helping others on their pursuit of a better life. I am blessed by my two children, six grandchildren, and my first great-grandson, who was born on June 25th. I enjoy reading, traveling, movies. I am grateful to continue to help others while spending time with family and friends.

Iván Verduzco

Iván Verduzco es un miembro destacado de la Asociación de Antiguos Alumnos de Pueblos Del Sol y un apasionado defensor de la recuperación y el bienestar comunitario. Después de completar con éxito su tratamiento de recuperación en 2020, Iván asumió el rol de gerente de LES para personas en recuperación a largo plazo, brindando apoyo y orientación a quienes continúan en su camino hacia la curación. En su tiempo libre, Iván colabora activamente con sus compañeros para llevar a cabo reuniones de Narcóticos Anónimos en español para los reclusos de la Cárcel del Condado Oeste, compartiendo su experiencia y ofreciendo esperanza a los necesitados.

​Además, Iván ha participado en el documental "Finding Hope in America", una conmovedora producción que aborda las historias de personas y familias que enfrentan problemas de adicción y las barreras que encuentran en su búsqueda de servicios de recuperación. El documental destaca los desafíos y triunfos de estas familias, culminando en un final feliz donde las personas se reintegraron exitosamente a la comunidad y restauraron la unidad familiar. Iván es un ejemplo inspirador de resiliencia y compromiso con el servicio comunitario, brindando esperanza y apoyo a quienes buscan un nuevo comienzo en su viaje hacia la recuperación.

Iván Verduzco is a prominent member of the Pueblos Del Sol Alumni Association and a passionate advocate for recovery and community well-being. After successfully completing his recovery treatment in 2020, Iván took on the role of manager of SLE for individuals in long-term recovery, providing support and guidance to those continuing on their path to healing. In his free time, Iván actively collaborates with peers to conduct Spanish-language Narcotics Anonymous meetings for inmates at West County Jail, sharing his experience and offering hope to those in need.

 

Additionally, Iván has participated in the documentary "Finding Hope in America," a poignant production that addresses the stories of individuals and families facing addiction issues and the barriers they encounter in their search for recovery services. The documentary highlights the challenges and triumphs of these families, culminating in a happy ending where individuals have successfully reintegrated into the community and restored family unity. Iván is an inspiring example of resilience and commitment to community service, providing hope and support to those seeking a fresh start on their journey toward recovery.

Martín Ramírez

Martín Ramírez, descendiente de Guadalajara, México, luchó contra la adicción durante un período prolongado. Sin embargo, un giro afortunado de los acontecimientos se produjo cuando fue arrestado, lo que llevó a un momento que cambió su vida el 21 de septiembre de 2017. Martín encontró la sobriedad después de sumergirse en el programa Pueblos Del Sol y trabajar diligentemente en el programa de Narcóticos Anónimos. Hoy, Martín se dedica a apadrinar a miembros del mismo centro de recuperación que enfrentan desafíos similares a los que él alguna vez soportó. Además, Martín, junto con sus compañeros, lleva a cabo reuniones en español de Narcóticos Anónimos en la Cárcel del Condado Oeste una vez al mes. También participó en el documental "Finding Hope in America", donde compartió su historia y arrojó luz sobre las experiencias de muchas familias que han enfrentado luchas similares. Actualmente, Martín es miembro del Cónsul de AC y apoya a sus compañeros hispanos en sus viajes de recuperación. Su compromiso de servicio y dedicación para ayudar a los demás hacen de Martin un faro de esperanza e inspiración en la comunidad de recuperación.

Martín Ramírez, a descendant of Guadalajara, Mexico, struggled with addiction for an extended period. However, a fortunate turn of events came when he was arrested, leading to a life-changing moment in September 21, 2017. Martín found sobriety after immersing himself in the Pueblos Del Sol program and diligently working the Narcotics Anonymous program. Today, Martín dedicates himself to sponsoring members of the same recovery center who are facing challenges similar to those he once endured. Additionally, Martín, along with fellow peers, conducts Spanish-language Narcotics Anonymous meetings at West County Jail once a month. He was also a participant in the documentary "Finding Hope in America," sharing his story and shedding light on the experiences of many families who have faced similar struggles. Presently, Martín is a member of the AC Consul, supporting fellow Hispanics in their recovery journeys. His commitment to service and dedication to helping others make Martin a beacon of hope and inspiration in the recovery community.

Juan Vallejo

El viaje de Juan Vallejo desde la custodia de ICE hasta la recuperación es un poderoso testimonio de resiliencia y transformación. Después de iniciar su recuperación en Pueblos Del Sol en febrero de 2021, el compromiso de Juan de mantener la sobriedad lo llevó a una vida de servicio, dedicada a ayudar a otros que están pasando apuros como él alguna vez. Como exalumno y miembro activo de la Asociación de exalumnos de Pueblos Del Sol, Juan participa en actividades que apoyan a las personas en tratamiento, ofreciendo orientación y empatía basada en sus propias experiencias. Además, la dedicación de Juan a contribuir a la comunidad de recuperación lo llevó a unirse al consejo asesor de Support4Recovery, donde aporta sus conocimientos y apoyo a las personas que buscan un camino hacia la recuperación. La participación de Juan en el documental "Finding Hope in America" ​​destaca aún más su viaje y muestra los desafíos y triunfos que enfrentan las personas para superar la adicción. A través de su defensa, servicio y compromiso inquebrantable de ayudar a los demás, Juan ejemplifica el poder transformador de la recuperación y la importancia de apoyar a quienes están en su propio camino hacia la curación.

Juan Vallejo's journey from ICE custody to recovery is a powerful testament to resilience and transformation. After entering into recovery at Pueblos Del Sol in February 2021, Juan's commitment to maintaining sobriety led him to a life of service, dedicated to helping others who are struggling as he once did. As an alumni and active member of the alumni Association for Pueblos Del Sol, Juan engages in activities that support individuals in treatment, offering guidance and empathy based on his own experiences. Additionally, Juan's dedication to giving back to the recovery community led him to join the Support4Recovery advisory council, where he contributes his insights and support to individuals seeking a path to recovery. Juan's participation in the documentary "Finding Hope in America" further highlights his journey and showcases the challenges and triumphs individuals face in overcoming addiction. Through his advocacy, service, and unwavering commitment to helping others, Juan exemplifies the transformative power of recovery and the importance of supporting those on their own journey towards healing.
